General Practitioner Education Series
National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre’s General Practitioner Education Series provides a series of evidence-based, topic-specific workshop modules for implementation through the Divisions of General Practice.The General Practitioner Education Series modules have been accredited as an RACGP QA&CPD Category 2 activity.
Module topics
- Investigating a new breast symptom: designed to maximise the effectiveness of investigation of patients who present to their GP with new breast symptoms.
- Assessing symptoms that may be ovarian cancer: aims to provide GPs with an understanding of best practice relating to the assessment of symptoms that may be ovarian cancer.
- Younger women and breast cancer: designed to assist GPs in supporting younger women with breast cancer by raising awareness of the particular issues faced by younger women and highlighting best practice in relation to management of the disease in younger women.

- Communication skills training for GPs: designed to support GPs in caring for patients with cancer. The workshop aims to assist general practitioners in breaking bad news, discussing prognosis and eliciting and responding to emotional cues.
